First decide whether both will work outside or one will stay at home. If suppose one decides to stay at home then try to get some work at home and keep that money as savings for further use.

Keep a track of record for what you have spent till a month. Then try to examine it and come out with some solution to save the money.

Reduce the use of credit card as you have to repay the amount. You can do it by not eating outside, less shopping.

Stop taking expensive gift or don’t buy expensive clothes or shoes for the baby as well as for you. As baby doesn’t go to work it’s not needed to get an expensive shoes or cloths.

Create an emergency backup plan, so that if anything happen you can survive that point of time.

Make a life insurance as soon as possible. Make the life insurance of your family members. It‘ll help you to save tax as well. It would also help you to save your dept.

Save at list 10% of your retirement plan.

Start a 529 college saving plan for making some contribution. So it would help to save tax if you claim a college expense.

Buy a house near to your Childers school. It will help your children to save time and it’ll also help you to save money for school bus.

Make a will so that in your absence your child would gain some benefits.  So if you want your child to inherit your property, you need to assign some guardian to handle your financial event after your death.
